1 Sprint 3 Focus: Game Screens

Quick recap: In Sprint 1 you polished your characters. In Sprint 2 you refined your level design and walkthrough. Both are now in your portfolio.

Sprint 3 = Game Screens. Today you will finalise all 4 game screens, make sure they look consistent, and add a game flow page. Then everything goes into your portfolio.

Write 3 goals for this sprint:

Goal 1
Write your first goal here...
Goal 2
Write your second goal here...
Goal 3
Write your third goal here...
Goal 1 — completed
Goal 2 — completed
Goal 3 — completed

2 Polish All 4 Screens

You have 30 minutes for this section. Review and improve each of your game screens:

Screen 1: Title Screen (from L13) The first thing players see. Does it look exciting and professional?
Screen 2: Gameplay / HUD Screen (from L13) Shows the game being played with score, lives, and timer visible.
Screen 3: Game Over Screen (from L13) What the player sees when they lose. Does it have a "Try Again" button?
Screen 4: How to Play Screen (from L15) Instructions that explain the controls and goal of the game.

Make sure all 4 screens use the SAME style. Use this consistency checklist:

All screens use the same background colour family
All screens use the same font for headings
All buttons look similar (same shape, same colour)
The game title appears on every screen
If your screens look very different from each other, pick the one you like best and update the others to match its style. Consistency is key!

3 Add a "How My Game Works" Page

You have 15 minutes for this section. Create a page that explains your game to someone who has never played it.

Option A: Create a simple flowchart. Start → Collect Coins → Avoid Enemies → Reach Finish → Win!
Option B: Create a step-by-step list of what happens in the game. Step 1: Player starts at the left side. Step 2: Jump on platforms. Step 3: Collect items...

This helps someone understand your game without playing it. You can use:

Arrows to show the flow
Boxes or shapes for each step
Short labels (keep it simple!)
Show your "How My Game Works" page to your partner. Ask: "Can you understand my game just from this page?" If not, simplify or add more detail.

4 Add to Portfolio

Open your portfolio presentation and add these new pages:

Page 6: "Title Screen" Paste your title screen design.
Page 7: "Gameplay Screen" Paste your HUD / gameplay screen design.
Page 8: "Game Over Screen" Paste your game over screen design.
Page 9: "How to Play" Paste your instructions / how to play screen.
Page 10: "Game Flow" Paste your flowchart from L15 or your "How My Game Works" page.
Share your full portfolio with your partner for feedback. Ask: "Which page looks the best? Which page needs more work?"

Quick check — your portfolio should now have 10 pages:

Pages 1-5: Cover, Characters, Game World, Level Design, Walkthrough
Pages 6-10: Title Screen, Gameplay, Game Over, How to Play, Game Flow
