1 What Is a GDD?

Key Vocabulary

GDD
Game Design Document — a written plan that describes every part of a game.
Portfolio
A collection of your best work — like a folder of your designs.

A GDD is what EVERY game studio writes before making a game. It is a plan.

You have been building pieces of your GDD all term! Today you put it ALL together.

Your GDD will have 8 sections, and you already have most of them done from previous lessons.

I understand that a GDD is a written plan for my game, and I need to complete all 8 sections.

2 Create Your GDD in Canva

Open Canva and create a PRESENTATION (not a poster). A presentation gives you multiple pages — one page per section.

Click Create a design → Presentation (16:9) This gives you multiple pages — one page per section of your GDD.
Name it: "GDD - [Your Game Title] - [Your Name]" Click on the title at the top of the page to rename your design.
If you prefer, you can use Google Slides instead. Create a new presentation and name it the same way.

3 Section 1: Cover Page

Page 1 of your presentation is the Cover Page. Make it look professional and exciting!

Add your game title — BIG, at the top.
Add your name and class (9GAMZA).
Add a picture of your hero character (from L04).
Add the date.
Make it look professional and exciting — this is the first impression!
My cover page has my game title, name, class, hero character, and date.
